| Today I came back to Xanga after a long hiatus. Jim keeps sending these short little posts out, and I get them in my email, so I came back to check out the whole weblog. Man, it's been awhile since I posted! I don't think Stan ever posted - and now he's Facebook man, and I haven't gotten started on that. So, here's the update:
Jim & Suzy got married December 22, 2006 in Fargo at First Lutheran, lived near Big Sky, Montana after graduating from Concordia that spring. After about a year and a half, they moved near Ithaca, New York to Brooktondale.
Mary & Kristian Anderson got married April 20, 2008 in Brooklyn at 59th Street Lutheran Brethren Church. They live in Brooklyn. We love getting to know our new family members!
Andy's 28 now, Mary's 26, Jim's 24, Rachel's 21, and Tommy's 18. Yikes! I have no more little kids!
As for me, I'm on the national Women's Ministries Team for our church denomination, and we had our January meeting in Florida! So thanks to those FL people who house and feed us in such a beautiful and warm place! Today is somewhere in the minus12 degree range, I think, so I'm bundling up.
But no matter what the weather is, God is good all of the time, and all of the time God is good.! Cheryl

| MY SON JIM IS ENGAGED!!! WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, SUZY! LOVE, MOM | | |
| It's been over a year, and I've only posted six times - and Stan hasn't posted at all! So, I guess that makes us pretty lame Xanga-ers, but at least we do read our kids' postings, and keep in touch somewhat.
I notice that I have only posted a very few times, but most of those have been important occasions...and I blew it yesterday, because that was another IMPORTANT occasion: Andy's birthday. uff da. Twenty-six? OVER a quarter of a century - and of course, that makes the Mom even older than half a century plus. another uff da.
But, even though my ancient memory is losing its potency, I remember Andy's birth month. It was a beautiful spring. The blossoms outside out house were wonderful, and the leaves popped out almost without my noticing, because I had discovered a new pastime: being wrapped up in motherhood and the care of an infant that I had NO CLUE could be so time-consuming!! It gave me a new appreciation for the role in which my own mother had spent so many years. It also gave me a new perspective on the selfless love of God for me, because I was able to experience for the first time the drawing of my heart to someone so helpless that he could do nothing to earn my love - yet I couldn't help loving him! So, in a small measure, I could now understand God's love for me, even when it seemed I didn't deserve it. Of course, I didn't deserve it! But He loved me anyway. He loves me anyway!
Andy, thank you for being! Your very existence has brought me closer to God! Love, Mom

| Well, today is October 29th - Mary's birthday. Since birthdays always
send me down memory lane, here's a memory from Mary's early days. We
were grocery shopping, and Mary saw this cake pan shaped like a
pumpkin. It had a cake mix included, and she looked up at me with those
big brown eyes and asked, "Can we buy it, Mom? Can we? Look, the cake
is included!" Yup, she was little miss frugal even back then - 'course
it was probably only that she was appealing to MY frugal nature. So I
relented, and we had pumpkin shaped cakes for years and years and year
and years later...actually, since Jim was also born in October, we
ended up having a couple of pumpkin cakes every October for years and
years and years. So, Mary, if you're reading this, here's to you, and
your marvelous suggestion. I just might have to make a pumpkin cake
this year, even without you being here, in your honor! Have a great 23rd birthday!
Love, Mom
